One of the problems with a small event like PA Fighting Championships, is that sometimes its hard to scout a lot of the fighters. This show is a prime example. Nick Gentile and Daniel Milstreed, who are the main event don’t have an established record as professionals. And their amateur careers were relatively short, the two combined for a 4-5 amateur record, Gentile collecting all of the wins.
When I write these posts, I look at records, opponents and any video. Nick Gentile, the fighter, not the Scilian mobster that died in the 60′s, has one fight video available. It was his last amateur fight against Charles Kessinger. Gentile won via referee stoppage at 0:36 in the first. But Gentile did come out throwing kicks and then brought Kessinger down with a judo throw. From there Kessinger was completely out of his depth, so it really is hard to gauge how good Gentile’s ground game is. But he does appear to prefer strikes to chokes. Gentile got his pro career off to a rocky start, getting submitted by Jim JHETT Hettes in the first round.
Milstreed, however, doesn’t have any videos online. The only information I have on him is that he’s 0-3 amateur, and hasn’t gotten past the 90 second mark of any of his fights.
This is the kind of information I used to get to 4-2-2 in fight predictions. All that being said, in this fight, I can really go on amateur records and strength of opponent. With that, you have to give the edge to Gentile. He’s the only one of the two fights who’s had his hand raised in the cage. He’s also a finisher with 2 TKO’s and a mata leao on the back of his baseball card. His last fight was a loss to a warrior in Jim Hettes. His record + strength of opponent makes him my favorite in this fight.
With neither guy having seen the second round in a while, I’m going to call this one Gentile with the stoppage in the first round.
