About

Grindhouse MMA Shoot (3-28-10) 087I’m Paul Miles, and I started Mid-Atlantic MMA to cover the regional MMA fight scene. I saw a lot of blogs reposting UFC results and recapping TUF episodes. But nobody was covering the local shows here in Philadelphia. I’ve been following mixed martial arts since The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 finale when I watched the Griffin/Bonnar war from my buddy’s firehouse lounge. In March of ’09 I was cage side photographing the first professional MMA fight in the Metro Philly region, and from there began to follow the local and regional fight scene. MAMMA stands for Mid-Atlantic Mixed Martial Arts, and the goal is to cover every pro & amateur event in the region from inside the commission barrier. Before starting Mid-Atlantic MMA, I spent a year doing game day operations in ice hockey and football, blogged pro basketball and Phillies baseball. Since the spring of 2009 I’ve also been a sports photographer, covering minor league baseball, semi-pro football, roller derby and mountain biking.

I made my commentary debut with New Breed Fighters on February 6, 2010 sitting in the third seat for three fights.

Commentary spots:
2010
February 6 – New Breed Fighters (3 fights with Mike Pullano)
May 1 – New Breed Fighters (3 fights with Mike Pullano)
June 11 – Asylum Fight League (with Kevin The Garv Garvey)

I’m available to write guest posts, appear on podcasts or do commentary on events.

Mid-Atlantic MMA
Mid-Atlantic MMA, is the first and only locally owned and operated MMA site covering Philadelphia, Atlantic City, New York, Lancaster and Baltimore metropolitan areas. We are often imitated, but never intimidated.

Officially went online October 8, 2009 but the first post went online on October 1. Since then Mid-Atlantic MMA has covered every major, minor, professional and amateur organization to come through the Mid-Atlantic region. We’ve tweeted live results from Warrior Challenge, Asylum, Locked in the Cage, Matrix 1, New Breed Fighters, M-1 Global and more.

Fight results from the Mid-Atlantic region that appear on Mid-Atlantic MMA are syndicated by our friends at ULT MMA and some news stories are reposted at MMA Melee and Go Fight Live. Cage side results tweets are usually cleaned up and reposted by Theodore Czechoslovakia at MMA Explosion. In May of 2010, Mid-Atlantic MMA joined the Yard Barker Network, which also syndicates all of MAMMA’s articles. MAMMA-Online.com reached its first major traffic milestone by finishing 2009 with over 10,000 visits. In the first half of 2010, the site did about 25,500 unique visits and nearly 50,000 page views.

The site has featured guest posts or photo diaries from world renown referee Big Tan Dan Miragliotta, top ranked female fighter Roxanne Modafferi and founder of New Breed Fighters, Scott Morgan.

In the spring of 2010, the site began a series of instructional videos called Take it to the Cage, we hope to feature all of the region’s top fight gyms and trainers over the course of this on going series.
