I’m busy, its late, this will be short.
For this weekend, Atlantic City is the place to be. The Boardwalk once again stakes its claim as Fight City USA with two of New Jersey’s top promotions running different casinos back to back. For Philly fans who hate the bridge tolls (as I tend to), The Arena (ex-ECW Arena, ex-New Alhambra, ex-Viking Hall) is the scene for Matrix Fights 1, run by Balance Studio’s Phil Migliarese and his partner Jimmy Binns Jr.
The weekend starts on Friday night, though, with the first pro fight card from New Breed Fighters in the Superstar Showroom at Resorts Hotel & Casino. The show is anchored by former UFC’er Dante Rivera vs IFC & M-1 vet Herbert Goodman. Also on the card are Tim Carpenter, Fight Factory’s Zach Makovsky and Jeff Lentz.
Saturday will pull area fight fans in two different directions. Asylum Fight League hits the Trump Marina. The 20 fight amateur card features friend of the program James Funaro who’s taking on Christopher Wing (1-0).
Arguably, though, the biggest card is Matrix Fights 1, which features some of the best fighters from Daddis Fight Camp and Team Balance. Some of the names to watch: Matt Makowski, who’s been out of action for 8 months; Kole Conrad, who will probably be cornered by Brock Lesnar and Aaron Meisner, who broke a losing streak with a much improved ground base last month at Locked in the Cage.
Three great events for fans in South Jersey and South Philly. MAMMA will be in the house for at least Matrix. And this is another great chance for you to bring your friends out to a fight night.
