All this “weekend snowicane” talk is really getting depressing. But before you get worried, as of right now Matrix Fights 1 is still green lit. I will update you if I hear any postponements due to weather. For now, though, plan on being at The Arena. That said, this show is the culmination of several months of work for Phil Migliarese of Balance Studios, Jimmy Binns Jr and Sam Caplan. Three really solid dudes. The crew put a lot of time into preparing for this show. The card features some well known locals and amateurs out of two of Philly’s top camps; Daddis FC & Team Balance. Of the 22 fighters on the card, only 4 have sub-.500 records. The card is sitting at 5 pro fights and 6 amateur bouts with the east coast debut of Brock Lesnar‘s training partner Cole Konrad and the Philadelphia debut of native son Matt Makowski.

Matt Makowski has never fought in Philadelphia (though he has fought for ROC in Atlantic City). Aaron Meisner turned around his losing streak with dramatically improved ground game last month. On the amateur side, Nah-Shon Burrell, Joe Difranco and Matthew Friedenborn are guys I’m really excited to see. And if I’m excited to see them, then you should be excited to see them. Or not, I don’t care anymore. I’m tired, and we’re in the middle of the snowpocalypse. Provided we’re not in the middle of the Day After Tomorrow, Matrix will go down at The Arena (formerly the ECW Arena, formerly The New Alhambra, formerly Viking Hall, formerly…a bunch of other names). Matrix has a lot of fight-week festivities planned, including a Relson Gracie seminar, a press conference at Zee Bar, and an after party at Delilah’s. If you’re coming in from out of town, Deliliah’s is a gentleman’s establishment that features young women who are all working their way through nursing school
