This Sherdog article confirms what we put out last night, that the UFC has signed Phil Mr. Wonderful Davis.
Sherdog quotes Davis as saying:
It means a lot just to be on the biggest stage in mixed martial arts, to be with a great company. It’s a great place for me to start my career.
Davis has been inactive since June when he beat David Blaggett via first round submission at Rumble on the Rivers. Davis has had a notoriously difficult time booking matches as the general consensus was that he was the most dangerous light heavyweight not on the UFC or Strikeforce roster.
Terms of the contract have not been released, but at least Davis will have no shortage of opponents now that he’s in the toughest LHW division in the country.
Phil trains out of Lionheart Fighters in Scranton PA, home to Strikeforce welterweight Paul Bradley.
Below is video of Phil’s professional debut, a 2 round decision victory over Brett Chism in Massachusetts. The rest of Phil’s 3 pro fights were first round victories with 2 TKO’s and a submission.
