Jim Kid Havok Hettes (3-0) has been, as the expression goes, kicking ass and taking names. None of his 7 professional or amateur fights have gotten out of the first round, and none of his 7 opponents have had an answer of his jiu-jitsu.
The Gracie NEPA trainer is getting ready to fight on his home turf for the first time when he and dance partner Jay Haas anchor PA Cage Fight 2 in Scranton, PA on November 27th.
The Scranton Times Tribute got the Hype Machine going with an article calling the baby faced bone collector a “rock star”.
What has made Hettes a prospect in MMA is that he has figured out what most professional athletes do: Ninety nine percent of his sport is not as exciting as most people think. That part of it is the work that goes into it. The hours on the mat. The repetition of the basics. The brutal grappling in the octagon when the lights and the cameras aren’t on. The month he spent training at the Greg Jackson Camp in New Mexico, where he worked fist-to-fist with MMA stars like Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia.
Its great press for a fighter who could very easily be ranked on regional pound 4 pound lists.
